The Enlightenment inspired the British American colonizes to fight to independence, popular sovereignty, and basic liberties - all of which will inspire other revolutions around Europe and the Americas. AMERICAN REVOLUTION -- UNIT 6.1 Summary: The British Colonies in North America begin the ultimate experiment in modern republican government. THE FRENCH REVOLUTION -- UNIT 6.2 Summary: Inspired by the success of the American Revolution, the heavily burdened French citizens fight challenge the Bourbon monarchy to build a republican government. THE LATIN AMERICAN REVOLTS -- UNIT 6.3 Summary: European colonies in Central and South America fight mercantile and political ties to their mother country in numerous independence revolutions. The student will investigate three major sets of revolutions, their origin within the Enlightenment ideals, and their interconnectivity. TOPIC 6.1 The American Revolution
