This is my favorite time of the year! It's the Sunday afternoon before the first week of school. My classroom is ready. My copies are made. My rosters are full. It's time to get back to the business of learning, and I know this year will be better than ever!
I've made mention of my digital classroom pilot in my previous posts. But now, I can talk about it in the practical, instead of the theoretical. In July, I travelled to Mooresville, NC and met some amazing teachers and administrators who have been working in digital classrooms for almost a decade. They shared valuable insights and suggestions. And starting on Tuesday, I get to put those ideas into my own classroom. I could not be any more excited!
Students, I will be challenging you this year, perhaps in ways that you haven't yet experienced. We will learn more than history in our classroom; we will learn how to be digital citizens and how to use digital tools in the real world.
I have lots of great and exciting plans for us this year! Together, I think we can redesign our history class to make it more interesting and applicable to the world outside of our school building. Let's brainstorm this week about what we want our classroom to be, and how we want to engage with the material. I can't wait to see the road that we build together!
